“A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.”

There’s something so terrifying about starting anything brand new, let alone a blog. We live in a world of blogging pandemonium so who’s to say I won’t be just another blogger trying to be known. Will they like me? Will they read along? Where do I fit in? Where do I begin? These are all questions that haunt me but also inspire me. We all have our story and I am choosing to share mine. I will do my best to make it funny, educational, and most importantly – inspiring!

I’ve tried blogging numerous times over the past 8 years but have never felt as though my life story was compelling enough. My life story isn’t really any more compelling than anyone else but I am finally growing into who I am, not only as a person but as a Chef.

I always know when good change is coming for me, I can feel it in my bones; I just can’t sit still. It’s bigger than this blog but this blog is such a huge part of it. This is my platform from which I am able to have my voice heard, from which I am able to share my thoughts and recipes, and from which I am able to help others live a healthier, more wholesome life.

The Grazing Gourmet is all-encompassing of what my life in food is. I am a trained Chef, I cooked in restaurants for 8+ years before making a big jump into consumer product development (think blenders, food processors, slow cookers). That is where I found what truly makes me jump out of bed every morning – helping others eat more thoughtfully. Through the recipes I’ve created for consumers and the tips I’ve offered, cooking has become more approachable and less intimidating.

I am a globally inspired Chef; I love to research different ethnic cuisines and recreate dishes – in a simplified manner – that many people would otherwise shy away from. “Spice up your life” is one of my mottos and you will see why – my spice cabinet is chock full of exotic spices that can really authenticate and bring an otherwise dull dish to life.

I am also on my own healthy life-style journey and although I won’t bog down my blog with too much about that, I will share accomplishments (Like how I can finally, for the first time in my life, do real push ups. Thanks kickboxing!) or how I nailed an otherwise unhealthy recipe in a healthy and tasty form (Yes, of course I will share the recipe!)

Tonight I will leave you with some wise and oh-so-true words from the legendary Prince
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.”
